Google Maps is a unique platform where you can travel the world from the comfort of your sofa.
The maps website has footage taken from all corners of the globe.
This ranges from the mundane everyday to the weird and wonderful – it just depends where you look.
One strange sight spotted recently was a mysterious man seen floating near a dock in Australia.
The figure is in the sea lapping up against the Southport pier in Queensland, Australia.

It’s impossible to look at the street view image without the strange sight leaping out at you.
But what is it? At first glance, you would be forgiven for thinking the figure is an actual living human.
However, on closer inspection, you can see the large figure is something else altogether.
It is made up of what looks like giant Lego blocks, formed in the shape of a man doing the back stroke.
Discussing the mysterious figure on the Virtual Globe Trotting website, forum users traded theories about what the figure could possibly be.

Google Maps: From afar the figure looks like a man taking a dip
One person wrote: “It seems like a doll (plastics, perhaps).”
Another wrote: “My guess is either a inflated figure of some sort or it’s got nothing to do with a humanoid figure, it just happens to look like one from above.”
Another user who claims to be from the Gold Coast explains that the apparent man is actually a floating pontoon.
The anonymous user writes: “This is a floating pontoon for the kids ( and adults) in the Southport Broadwater Swimming Lagoon at the Southport Broadwater Park Play area Marine Parade Southport on the Gold Coast.”
This isn’t the only weird sight to appear on the Google Maps platform this month.

A scene snapped by Google Maps Street View in Mexico shows an enormous white lorry stuck in a ditch at the side of the road.
Yet despite its size and predicament, the rescue service that has come to its aid is a tiny tow truck about half the lorry’s size.
Three men are gathered behind the tow truck – perhaps discussing how they can proceed with their rescue mission, if at all.
It’s unclear what became of the men and the stuck truck as Google Maps caught the scene frozen in time and the aftermath was not filmed.
Clearly the white truck was shifted eventually as the current scene on Google Maps Street View shows the grass verge and woodlands beyond devoid of any vehicles.
