Theo Paphitis loved visiting the Croatian islands
He made a major chunk of his fortune from high street lingerie business La Senza before appearing on the BBC show from 2005 to 2012.
Born in Cyprus, he now lives in Surrey with his wife Debbie.
They have five children.
WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY?
I’m an avid sailor and my first time exploring the Dalmatian Coast and the Croatian islands was very special.
I went to Vis and Hvar which is slightly bigger and feels a bit like the south of France only with fewer people.
A package holiday to Mojacar in southern Spain when the children were very young and our son was just a few months old.
Our flight was hugely delayed and we ended up landing at midnight in a different airport which was several hours away from where we were staying which meant a long transfer through the night.
At one point, the coach suddenly stopped because a baby had rolled down the aisle.
I was aghast at how something like that could even happen until I suddenly glanced over at my exhausted wife who had fallen asleep to see that our son was no longer in her arms.
Theo Paphitis would love to return to Mallorca
Souvenirs always tend to look great when you see them in some exotic souk but awful when you finally get them back home.
They tend to start in my study and eventually get demoted to the garage or the loft.
I remember buying bags from a market in Hong Kong and a special suit cover in Bangkok that turned out to be too small to store any suits.
It was ridiculous.

I’m dyslexic so I often cheat and listen to audio books.
I liked Tom Bower’s biography of Bernie Ecclestone, the former Formula 1 boss.
It was about 15 hours.
Theo Paphitis is heading to California next month
HOW DO YOU SPEND TIME ON HOLIDAY?
I like the odd day relaxing by the pool but I couldn’t stand to sunbathe for an entire week.
I much prefer nature over cities and there has to be some sort of activity involved: fishing, skiing, hiking, sailing.
It keeps my mind busy and I find things like that very fulfilling.
Theo Paphitis usually buy souvenirs that end up on his desk or in the garage
WHERE WOULD YOU REVISIT?
I’d love to return to Mallorca.
I went last year just for a few days and I had a real ball.
It’s very cosmopolitan and very clean and there are some great walking trails that I’d like to do.
I’m always revisiting Cyprus and still find new things to discover, from the fishing villages and ski slopes to the wineries.
Historically, Cypriot wine hasn’t been the best but it’s fantastic now and there are lots of lovely little vineyards that you can visit.
I’m heading to California next month to drive from San Francisco to Phoenix via Las Vegas.
I’m planning to cover 200 miles a day on trikes.
I love road trips and I love North America so it should be a wonderful adventure.
