Dreams of a peaceful flight where shattered when a three-year old boy described as “demonic” and “out of control” screamed for the entirety of an eight-hour flight.
The Lufthansa flight was headed to Newark Liberty International Airport when the incident occurred.
The tantruming toddler was filmed by New York based artist Shane Townley, and a video titled ‘demonic child screams and runs through an 8 hour flight’ was later uploaded to video-sharing site YouTube.
Before take off, the child’s mother can be heard desperately requesting the flight attendant to “get the WiFi going so we can get the iPad going” in order to distract the troublesome child.
Viral video: The child screams throughout the video
It is inferred from the video that she is an American, although this has not been verified.
But instead of settling down, the little boys behaviour erupted into a full on meltdown, torturing other passengers on board the eight-hour flight.
The child’s mother was heard apologetically informing flight attendants of her sons “behavioural problems” before repeatedly imploring him to “calm down, honey”.
However, Townley who filmed the entire uncontrolled outburst told Inside Edition, “she kind of looked like she was used to it”.
Viral video: Child is allowed to do whatever he wants, according to the videomaker
What a night, oh my God – eight hours of screaming
“He was climbing all over the chairs, he was just screaming, would not let up, he was running up and down the aisles, there was nothing she could do”.
When speaking to the Mail Online, Shane explained that “staff tried to intervene but the mother said he just needs his internet”.
After clambering over seats and running amok down the aisles, the frenzied child is shown screaming at the top of his lungs, while fed up passengers attempt to block out the howling cries by covering their ears.
However, this proves fruitless. After the plane had landed at Newark, an agonised passenger can be heard exclaiming: “What a night, oh my God – eight hours of screaming”.
Viral video: Passengers on the plane are unable to sleep
The flight took place last August, however the footage has only recently circulated widely online.
Shane’s original video has amounted to 2.1 million YouTube views.
Despite passengers on the plane seeming to be patient and understanding of the situation, the online community are less so with appalled viewers calling for “an exorcist”.
Others have similarly called the behaviour “unacceptable” and questioned the child’s parenting.
