Flight attendant: This is how they get back at annoying passengers
Flight attendants have to deal with all kinds of travellers when 30,000 feet in the air.
Dirty fliers and rude passengers are just some of the difficult people they have to deal with.
Being in a position of power, this means that flight attendants can get their own back on anyone who annoys them.
An anonymous flight attendant has revealed to Vice how they get their revenge.
Flight attendant: They ignore passenger requests if they are annoying them
Usually, I spend the majority of my time just ignoring them
They explained: “Usually, I spend the majority of my time just ignoring them.
“You don’t really have much to work with so it becomes a power play.
Sometimes it can even be ignoring some of their requests in a passive-aggressive manner: “I try to assert myself as much as possible and let them know I’m the boss by not giving them their orange juice with ice or giving it to them with ice if they asked for no ice.”
Ultimately, they cannot do much to the passenger due to the nature of the job: “Anything I can do to stick in their craw without it being obvious because, unfortunately, I have to smile and do my best to not look upset, no matter what the case is.”
Flight attendant: Bad passengers can irritate flight attendants
For any passengers trying to avoid being the worst passenger on the flight, there is one thing that flight attendants are annoyed by the most.
Alan Caistor, who frequently flies short-haul, explained on Quora that it is anyone who ignores the safety demonstration.
He wrote: “Do watch the safety demo, because if you can’t get out in a fire, the cabin are not going to risk their lives to come and get you.
“You’ve got to wait for the fire service who have the equipment to survive in the smoke.
Flight attendant: Irritating habits can include ignoring the safety demonstration
The anonymous flight attendant previously revealed to Vice the secret behind turning a mobile device off on a plane.
Passengers are told to turn off any electronic device or to put it on airplane mode during the plane journey.
It appears that no-one acknowledges the rule as “nobody turns off their phones”.
The flight attendant explained that even they don’t turn it off as it is just a “precautionary” request.
